Instituciones de educación superior. una mirada desde las operaciones

Resumen (es)

Objetivo: Este artículo tiene por objetivo identificar el contexto actual
de las instituciones de educación superior, así como caracterizarlas
como organizaciones prestadoras de servicios e identificar su
sistema de operaciones. Metodología: Para alcanzar este objetivo se
partió de una revisión bibliográfica y se hizo una verificación de las
características que hacen de las universidades empresas de servicios y
las particularidades de su sistema de operaciones. Resultados: Se logra
identificar que la literatura que estudia las ies como organizaciones
es limitada Conclusiones: A partir de la caracterización realizada se
puede concluir que estas son organizaciones prestadoras de servicios que hacen parte de la economía del conocimiento y que cuentan con un sistema de operaciones en donde se convierten las entradas
(insumos y recursos) en salidas (estudiantes formados, investigaciones ejecutadas y articulación con el sector externo).

Resumen (en)

Objective: This article aims to identify the current context of higher education institutions, as well as to characterize them as a type of service provider organization and define their operating system.
Methodology: To achieve this objective, a bibliographic review of the subject under study was carried out and verification of the
characteristics that make universities a service company and the particularities of their operations system was made. Results: it is
possible to identify that the literature in which HEIs are studied as organizations is limited. Conclusions: based on the survey carried
out, it can be concluded that they are service provider organizations that are part of the knowledge economy and that have a system of
operations where inputs (inputs and resources) are converted into outputs (students trained, research carried out and interaction with the external sector).

Resumen (pt)

Objetivos: Este artigo tem como objetivo identificar o contexto atual
das instituições de ensino superior, bem como caracterizá-las como
um tipo de organização prestadora de serviços e seu sistema de
operação. Metodologia: Para atingir esse objetivo, iniciou-se uma
revisão bibliográfica sobre o tema e foi feita uma verificação das
características que fazem da universidade uma empresa prestadora de
serviços e as particularidades de seu sistema de operação. Resultados:
é possível identificar que a literatura onde as ies são estudadas como
organizações é limitada. Conclusões: com base na caracterização
realizada, pode-se concluir que são organizações prestadoras de
serviços que fazem parte da economia do conhecimento e que
possuem um sistema de operações onde insumos (insumos e recursos)
são convertidos em saídas (alunos capacitados, pesquisas realizadas
e preparação para atuar no mercado de trabalho).
