Prácticas culturales: dos colectivos de migrantes, dos países de destino

Abstract (en)

This article aims to analyze the social and cultural practices of two groups of migrants in two Latin American countries: the case of Argentine immigrants in Chile, and Senegalese immigrants in Argentina. We understand that these practices have as background the meeting between compatriots, and that they appeal to the creativity and spontaneity in the context of integration into the host society, helping to form networks and social ties that perhaps did not exist before. These creative and re-creative activities contribute to the (re) configuration of national identity in a context of migration. At the same time, they have in common that they arise spontaneously without advance planning. They also are setting up a network of relationships that nurture both the “Argentinian” and the “Senegalese identity” in the immigration context of reception.

Abstract (es)

Este artículo se propone analizar las prácticas sociales y culturales de dos colectivos de migrantes en dos países latinoamericanos: el caso de los inmigrantes argentinos en Chile y de los inmigrantes senegaleses en Argentina. Comprendemos que estas prácticas tienen como trasfondo el encuentro entre compatriotas y apelan a la creatividad y espontaneidad en el contexto de integración a la sociedad de destino, contribuyendo a formar redes y lazos sociales quizás antes no existentes. Estas actividades creativas y re-creativas contribuyen a la (re)configuración de la identidad nacional en un contexto migratorio, a la vez que tienen en común surgir de manera espontánea, sin planificación previa, e ir configurando una red de relaciones que consolidan tanto la “identidad argentina” como la “identidad senegalesa” en el contexto migratorio de recepción.
