This article is a paper of Paul Ricœur, translated by Professor Jorge Enrique González, on occasion of the publication of this commemorative issue of Cuadernos de Filosofía Latinoamericana. The paper presents the significance of hermeneutics for the interpretation of the texts, capable of projecting to the practical field of social sciences.
