The relationship between childhood obesity and screen time
Abstract (en)
To review studies about the association between child obesity and screen time. This is a integrative review using the PubMed databases, with the descriptors: “Pediatric Obesity” and “Screen Time”. 9 articles published in English and with a time limit of 5 years were selected. most texts show the association between the higher screen time and the less physical activity and sedentary behaviours, which are important factors to childhood obesity. Furthermore, after the COVID 19 pandemic, there was a expressive increase in the BMI of pediatric patients, witch was, one more time, associated with a less time spend in physical activities. The association between screen time and childhood obesity and overweight is positive. However, multidisciplinary analysis and longitudinal and interventional studies are still needed.
Abstract (es)
