Abstract (en)
To evaluate the indicators of physical health and quality of life (QoL) affected by post-COVID-19 syndrome in an adult man with comorbidities who was hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This study is a descriptive case report conducted with a 54-year-old male volunteer, African American, 1.63 m tall, with a total body mass of 83 kg, who did not perform physical activities before the infection and presented musculoskeletal limitations in the upper and lower limbs due to the advanced stage of infection by the novel coronavirus and the length of stay in the ICU of a public hospital. Validated protocols were used to assess functional autonomy, strength endurance, flexibility, balance, health index, and quality of life, comparing the results with reference values. All results were below the expected values. The present study showed the impact of sedentary lifestyle, comorbidities, and post-COVID-19 syndrome on physical capacities and on health and quality of life scores.
