Abstract (en)

Objective: To describe isokinetic strength in knee flexor and extensor muscles: absolute peak torque, symmetries, and muscle balance in students at the General José Maria Córdova Military School. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive, and transversal study. Seventy-five students in military training were evaluated, with slow speed protocol at 60°/s in knee flexion-extension and body composition by bioimpedance. Results: No significant differences were found in absolute peak torque at 60°/s between muscle groups of both legs. Peak torque relative to body mass presented a significant difference of ≤0.01 between right and left leg extensors, and a significant difference of 0.05 in right and left leg flexors. Finally, the peak torque relative to muscle mass presents significant differences in both legs and muscle groups. Conclusion: No significant differences were found in peak torque values of extensors and flexors, but a muscular balance of quadriceps/hamstrings was found.

Objetivo: Describir la fuerza isocinética en músculos flexores y extensores de rodilla: pico torque absoluto, simetrías y balance muscular en estudiantes de la Escuela Militar General José María Córdova. Metodología: Estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo y transversal. Se evaluaron 75 estudiantes en formación militar, con protocolo de velocidad lenta a 60°/s en flexio-extensión de rodilla y composición corporal por bioimpedancia. Resultados: No se encontraron diferencias significativas en pico torque absoluto a 60°/seg entre grupos musculares de ambas piernas. El pico torque relativo a la masa corporal presenta diferencia significativa de ≤0,01 entre extensores de pierna derecha e izquierda; y una diferencia significativa de 0,05 en flexores de pierna derecha e izquierda. Finalmente, el pico torque relativo a la masa muscular presenta diferencias significativas en ambas piernas y ambos grupos musculares. Conclusión: No se encontraron diferencias significativas en valores de pico torque de extensores y flexores, pero sí un balance muscular de cuádriceps/isquiotibiales.

Objetivo: Descrever a força isocinética dos músculos flexores e extensores do joelho, pico de torque absoluto, simetrias e equilíbrio muscular em alunos da Escola Militar General José María Córdova. Metodologia: Estudo quantitativo, descritivo e transversal. Foram avaliados 75 alunos em treinamento militar, com um protocolo de velocidade lenta a 60°/s em flexão-extensão do joelho, e composição corporal por bioimpedância. Resultados: Não foram encontradas diferenças significativas no pico de torque absoluto a 60°/s entre os dois grupos musculares de ambas as pernas. O pico de torque relativo à massa corporal apresentou uma diferença significativa de ≤0,01 entre os extensores das pernas direita e esquerda, e uma diferença significativa de 0,05 entre os flexores das pernas direita e esquerda. Por fim, o pico de torque em relação à massa muscular apresentou diferenças significativas em ambas as pernas e em ambos os grupos musculares. Conclusão: não foram encontradas diferenças significativas nos valores de pico de torque dos extensores e flexores, mas observou-seequilíbrio muscular entre quadríceps e isquiotibiais.
