The Dual Role of Resilience in Student Well-being: A Moderated Mediation Model of Perceived Health and Life Satisfaction
Aim: To examine the role of perceived health in the relationship between personal competence and life satisfaction among pre-university students, and to determine whether self-acceptance regulates the efficacy of that pathway. Method: A cross-sectional, quantitative and explanatory design was applied to 440 adult pre-university students from Metropolitan Lima, selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling, with a priori determined sample size. Constructs were measured with five-point Likert self-report instruments and modelled in reflective mode A through partial least squares structural equation modelling, with 5000 bootstrap subsamples, an index of moderated mediation and conditional indirect effects. Results: The measurement model satisfied reliability and discriminant validity criteria. All five hypotheses received support: personal competence predicted life satisfaction both directly and through perceived health, in a partial mediation pattern, and self-acceptance amplified that transfer; the indirect effect was non-significant at the low level of the moderator. Conclusions: Well-being at this stage depends on the articulation between an agentic and an evaluative resource, which informs a prioritized intervention sequence.
