Luego de un poco más de dos décadas de producción literaria dedicadas al género narrativo breve, la aparición de Retrato de un caballero, por parte de Miguel Gomes (Caracas, 1964) es un hecho como mínimo noticioso dentro del mundo de la literatura nacional. Desde la publicación de Visión memorable (1987) hasta Julieta en su castillo (2012), han visto la luz nada menos que ocho libros compuestos de cuentos y un par de noveletas, generando la impresión de estar ante un “cuentista absoluto” a la manera de Julio Garmendia, Gustavo Díaz Solís o Igor Delgado Senior. Hasta ahora.
