El texto pretende determinar varios de los elementos fundamentales que, a juicio del autor, constituyen la relación del pensamiento judío con las ideas de Walter Benjamin. Se compone de siete partes: “Las huellas judías en el itinerario de Benjamin”, “Ante la presencia de la barbarie”, “La pregunta por el mesianismo judío (La huella de Max Weber)”, “Lo judío, lo teológico y Kafka”, “Martín Buber y las nuevas interpretaciones del judaísmo”, “Las experiencias de una generación” y “Gershom Sholem y la génesis de los estudios cabalísticos”.
