Abstract (en)

General judgments on the probability theory and its application on the field of health are critically assessed in the book Philosophy for physicians, by the Argentinean physicist and epistemologist Mario Bunge. The work contains several inaccuracies and mistakes in this subject, which are analyzed in this article. When handling concepts of Bayesian inference, particularly in relation to the application of Bayes’ theorem, the book includes errors and fallacies that are also discussed and illustrated in detail.
