Ethical Conduct and Good Practices of Publishing

The Santo Tomás University and the editorial committee do the CITAS journal, with the aim of ensuring the scientific and academic quality of its publications, have established the following ethical principals, published by the Committee on Publications Ethics-COPE, as well as the ethical and legal standards of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition.  These best practices should be adhered to be the authors, the editorial committee and the institution.

Responsibilities of the authors

Where necessary, the author must present the relevant information (funding bodies, institutional affiliation, participants, et cetera) that authorises its publication in repositories or other forms of storage.

The author must declare the originality of the paper and provide information as required by copyright (Andean Pact Decision 351 of 1993).

Where required, the author must provide guarantee that the research carried out on humans or other species complies with national and international law.   To that end, the author must present evidence of informed consent or the approval by the ethics committee.

Declare any possible conflict of interest

The author must notify the editorial committee of any significant error in the published article so that it can be rectified through a list of corrections, an appendix, a letter to the editor, or removal of the publication.

If plagiarism, impersonation or omission of information is detected, the author is obliged to publicly retract their paper, and, depending on the gravity of the misconduct, the withdrawal or correction of the publication can be expected.
