Integrated Management Systems and their Importance for Sustainable Development. A Bibliometric Review
Abstract (en)
The transition to a new development paradigm cannot be limited to the search for less polluting production technologies, but rather to the integral construction of a new sustainable consumption and production pattern that involves all sectors. The implementation of an Integrated Management System (IMS) is considered a strategic decision that contributes to improving competitiveness and sustainability in companies and has an impact on the four pillars of sustainability, namely: environmental, economic, social and institutional. To understand the relationship between SGI and sustainable development, a descriptive analysis of 128 indexed journal papers was conducted using the bibliometric technique over a selected period of 23 years. The results obtained show that 43 countries have contributed publications on the central theme, of which Brazil, China and Portugal are considered leaders. This analysis helped to identify that Jørgensen, Siva and Fresner are considered the most relevant authors of today. Therefore, an IMS cannot be complete without the environmental aspect, and therefore there is an increasing need to resolve this issue under standards and methodologies based on academic and scientific studies.
Abstract (es)
