Exploring Social Networks in Academic Statistical Production
Abstract (en)
This work develops a social network analysis of the articles published by the Revista
Colombiana de Estad´ıstica, with the aim of uncovering important patterns and
characteristics in citation relationships, both among the authors who have been
cited or referenced by the journal and among the articles linked to these authors.
Through a descriptive analysis and a partitioning of the networks of interest, the
fundamental role played not only by internationally recognized authors but also
by professors from the National University of Colombia who have dedicated their
lives to the field of statistics was discovered.

Este trabajo desarrolla un análisis de redes sociales a los artículos publicados por la Revista Colombiana de Estadística, esto con el fin de descubrir patrones y características importantes en las relaciones de citaciones tanto dentro de los autores que pasaron o fueron referenciados por la revista como dentro de los artículos enlazados a estos autores. Mediante un análisis descriptivo y una partición de las redes de interés se descubrió el papel fundamental que juegan no solo autores reconocidos mundialmente, sino también docentes de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia que han dedicado su vida al campo de la estadística.
