The fundamental theoretical convergence between the economic thought of the Chicago monetarist school and that of the moderate constructivist sociologists: individual agent, organizations and institutions
Abstract (en)
This research aims to demonstrate the fundamental theoretical convergence between the contributions from economists of the Chicago monetarist school and those from the moderate constructivist sociologists, for certain specific areas of their analysis. To this end, we group these contributions in three categories: individual agent, organizations and institutions. In this sense, we conclude that their formal maximizing agent model presents a limited rationality, operates in imperfect information environments, attributes costs to its decision making process and develops rational expectations. Furthermore, in relation to organizations, these authors examine the relationship between forms of ownership and management in companies, understand these as mechanisms to reduce uncertainty, consider the division of labor as a fundamental principle of its operation and study the behavior of oligopolies, State and unions in the market. Finally, they understand institutions as general, natural and potentially conflicting phenomena.
