Growth, economic complexity and CO2 emissions: an analysis for Colombia Paula Vanessa Sosa
Abstract (en)
Global CO2 emissions represent a major problem, particularly due to its effects on global warming. This document tries to validate the Kuznets environmental hypothesis for Colombia, not only through the traditional measure used in this type of analysis (that is, gross domestic product —gdp—), but incorporating a new production index known as the economic complexity index. Given the nonlinear relationships of the variables, it was decided to use an anfis model. In addition, as robustness analysis, some traditional time series techniques (fmols, dols y ccr) are used. The study carried out indicates that the results are not conclusive for the Kuznets environmental hypothesis, therefore it cannot be validated for Colombia.
