Analysis of the budget execution in Colombia during the period 1954-2013
Abstract (en)
This document is a research exercise whose objective is to recognize the behavior of public investment in Colombia between 1954 and 2013, as well as its relationship with the economic policy guidelines included in the development plans endorsed by the different governments. For this purpose, a quantitative method in particular was used: the Box-Jenkins identification methodology for time-series model, which allows to identify the changes in investment expenses in the last 50 years and also makes possible a forecast for the next four years. Finally, it is concluded that public investment is highly influenced by the development plans of each government. An increasing trend with periods of stagnation or decrease due to economic conjunctures is also identified.
