Social Performance Versus Social Responsability of Oil Industry and its Influence on Quality of Life
Abstract (en)
The article analyzes the social representations that the inhabitants of the Rubiales village built against the Social Responsibility of the oil industry and the influence on their quality of life. The investigation began with an approach to the processes of objectification and anchoring that occur during the construction of a Social Representation, subsequently considers Corporate Social Responsibility as a voluntary commitment assumed by the organizations to integrate the expectations and concerns of different groups interest, aiming towards sustainable development generating confidence and credibility; also it analyzes the quality of life is a social concept of the needs and interests of a person in community, based on their own reality. Finally by analyzing information collected through direct observation and application of semi-structured interviews it was able to confirm that corporate social responsibility is for the people of Rubiales, a communication channel between the community and businesses through which job offers channeled; It is the one who helps them solve their problems or needs, especially health, and who watch over the welfare of the community. Additionally for Quality of Life, they relate that to access a job with a higher salary than she is out allows them to meet their basic needs and access to goods and services, which means they an improvement in their quality of life .
